These antique Himalayan cedar chests come from the Kulu valley in Himachal Pradesh and were used for storage. They are made from Cedar wood which is roughly hewn into planks with an adze. It is then assembled using wooden pegs. The front is often chip carved with designs that have been used for centuries.
