An old woven basket from the tribal area of Nagaland in North East India. Hand woven from grass and decorated with cowrie shells, these baskets were made to withstand brutal everyday use.

Cowrie shells were used to decorate textiles and utility objects and were prized in remote areas of the Himalayas and desert regions.
